Advanced Level Results Day 2017
Once again, the Upper Sixth have achieved a wonderful set of A Level results and spirits were high in the Common Room as the students came in to collect the all important envelopes.
Over three quarters of all grades were A* - B; a truly impressive statistic. 23 subjects delivered a 100% pass rate, demonstrating the remarkable range and depth of the A Level results this year. Well over half the students in the cohort also achieved no grade lower than a B which is particularly pleasing.

Mrs Horner was delighted to praise students and staff alike for their hard work: “This year, against a backdrop of significant national examination reform, Westholme Upper Sixth Formers have produced another consistently excellent set of A Level results. I am especially proud of our increased A*- B grades to 76.5%. These are the top grades which secure the sought after places at university and demonstrate to employers that our young people have the ability to learn, to work independently and to excel. Westholme’s A Level achievements are testament to the dedication of our teachers, the diligence of the students and of course their supportive families. It is a privilege to see that the potential I knew was there has been justly fulfilled and I wish every one of them the best of luck on their future paths.
Westholme GCSE students Jump for Joy
Westholme’s GCSE results have once again proved to be a cause for celebration.
In a year that has seen the National average results fall, we are delighted that Westholme students have bucked that trend. Our A*- C pass rate is 96% compared to the National average of 66% whilst our A* pass rate comes in at 16% versus 6.5% nationally.
Principal, Mrs Horner, commented, “I am very pleased with the results achieved by our students this year. They have worked diligently and maintained a positive commitment to other areas of school life throughout. Top performances from over 45% of grades were at A* and A. 14% of all students achieved all A* or A grades with 80% securing 9, 10 or 11 GCSEs which is truly impressive. Louise Jaitly deserves special mention as she secured an amazing 11 A*’s! We are proud of the achievements from our students as GCSEs provide the essential passport required for next steps in education, training or employment. My staff have worked hard with Westholme students and I am delighted that we can celebrate their success together.”
This impressive set of GCSE results are in addition to our outstanding A Level results which were released last week. The future is certainly bright at Westholme!
