At the Boys’ Junior School we aim to provide a broad, yet balanced curriculum that encourages the boys to improve their talents and at the same time discover new interests. Whilst we do follow the National Curriculum, the school is able to adapt it to the boys’ individual learning needs in stimulating yet friendly surroundings.
Most subjects are taught by the class teacher with specialist staff providing French and music lessons. For certain subjects, such as art, design and technology and ICT, the boys and their teacher move to a specialist room.
As boys progress through the school a greater focus is placed on senior school entrance examinations.
The school works in tandem with parents in preparing boys for these examinations.
Boys sit examinations for a variety of senior schools, including Bolton School, Clitheroe Royal Grammar School, King Edward VII and Queen Mary School, Kirkham Grammar School, Oakhill College, Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School and St Mary’s Hall at Stonyhurst College.
