Facilities

In addition to large, spacious and well-stocked classrooms and resource areas there are plenty of other facilities that the girls make good use of.

There is a recently refurbished IT suite, with computers networked to those in classrooms, the library and the hall. The library is a bright and inspiring place to be and contains an excellent range of fiction and non-fiction books. There is a large carpeted hall, used for many activities such as assemblies, music lessons, drama and dance. Music practice rooms provide space for individual instrumental lessons.

A second hall offers specialist equipment for gym lessons and also doubles as a dining room over lunchtime. Beardwood Bank has its own kitchen which provides an excellent menu with a wide range of choices. All girls have a school lunch and specialist diets are catered for.

Outside we have two playgrounds, which provide us with two full sized netball courts. The children are also allowed to play on several grassed areas when the weather is fine. A favourite of the girls is our willow dome, which they helped to construct a number of years ago. A full class can fit inside it and it is also very popular at playtimes. We also have a small orienteering course and cross country circuit within the grounds.

In addition to our own facilities we also use the Westholme Theatre, swimming pool, sports hall, astro-turf and athletics field at Senior School. The local church, St Silas', is used for our Harvest Festival and our Carol Service is held in Blackburn Cathedral.
