What We Eat

Food is always an important part of daily life, and for Westholme children its no different!

The whole schools menu (catering for over 1200 people each day) is led by Sue Ballan. Her view is that we support the school motto, Mens sana in corpore sano (a healthy mind in a healthy body) with our food provision. To this end, everything that we can source locally we do, and our suppliers are carefully monitored.

Please do not worry about the children failing to eat, even if they are very fussy! Eating with other children is amazingly effective in getting little ones to try new things, and there is usually enough on offer to find something to tempt even the fussiest ones. Of course, you must tell us if your child has any special dietary needs/requirements and we will make sure this is addressed. The children are helped to cut up their food and assisted with eating where necessary by the classroom assistants and teachers.
