Physical Development

Physical development activities work to promote enthusiasm and energy for movement throughout the curriculum, helping children to develop co-ordination and control in both large and small movements.

Fine motor skills are developed through effective, safe and controlled use of scissors, mark making equipment and fine motor construction. Throughout the year children are supported in developing a secure pencil grip and they are encouraged to take part in writing activities.  Essential gross motor skills like riding a bicycle, using a skipping rope and climbing over, under and through apparatus are developed through a range of experiences.
