Literacy

At the Infant School the acquisition of literacy skills is paramount and taught both discretely and as a cross-curricular exercise too.

Reading, comprehension, phonics and spelling as well as creative writing are timetabled weekly.

Parents are expected to hear their children read daily, to learn target words with them and to support the work at school by providing a good role model in speech and language.

LAMDA lessons help the development of speech and drama skills too. Learning is fun in all subjects at the Infant School and Year 2 is no exception!
