Westholme Nursery Admissions Policy
When a parent phones to enquire about a place for their child, the school secretary will ask them for their name, the name and date of birth of the child they wish to register, the parent’s home address and their phone number.
If the child is young enough to be considered for a place at the Nursery, the Registrar will send the parents a school prospectus for them to look through and get a true feel for life at Westholme. The parents then return the completed registration form to the School Secretary at Billinge House (Westholme Infant School) who will then send a copy to the Nursery.
This is a registration of interest, not a guarantee of a place.
An acknowledgement letter is sent to the parents informing them that we have received their form. At this time an indication of availability of places will be included.
The school secretary at Billinge House (Westholme Infant School) will arrange for a visit to the Nursery and following this an offer of a place will be sent with a mutually agreed start date. This offer pack, which will include a legally binding acceptance form, should then be returned to school along with a deposit of £300 to secure a place.
In the September following the child’s third birthday, he/she will move to the pre school class at Westholme Infant School, to continue their education at Westholme. These children are automatically included in admission interviews in February or March of the preceding academic year.
In the event of insufficient places being available for the number of applicants, preference will be given to children whose siblings already attend Westholme School, children whose parents have clearly indicated that they intend their children to remain at Westholme School at Billinge House and beyond and children whose parents are staff members.
