Westholme Senior School for Girls Admissions Policy

Entry to the Senior School is by examination taken at 11+. The entrance examination takes place in the November of the year before admission. Prospective pupils sit papers in Mathematics, English and reasoning papers. The school is a member of the Manchester Consortium for the 11+ entrance examination. Parents of pupils sitting the examinations for other schools in the consortium are notified of the results on an agreed published date usually in March; all others are notified one week after sitting the examinations. Girls already at Westholme may progress through the school. Where it is thought that a pupil will struggle academically with the next stage, the parents will be invited to a meeting with the Principal to discuss the way forward.

Mid-stream entries are arranged throughout the year and are conditional upon the availability of a place and results of entrance examinations. Senior School papers are taken in English, Mathematics, verbal reasoning and a language.
