Old Westholmians

Welcome to your special area!

Welcome to the part of the site that is dedicated to bringing together former pupils of the school. Right from those early girls and boys who joined us in 1923 through to our latest 2008 leavers, we aim to offer you opportunities to come back into school and to reconnect with each other.

Congratulations Alex!

One of our old girls, and daughter of our Head of English, Mrs Gibson, has just been awarded the President’s Special Award for a new machine design for the Commonwealth Handling Equipment Pool (CHEP). CHEP issues, collects, conditions and reissues pallets and containers to help manufacturers and growers to transport their products to distributors and retailers.

Alex will receive her award at a ceremony in Brussels from the company’s American President. She is shown in our picture sitting opposite Mrs Gibson at the recent Old Girls' reunion at the Royal Opera House in London.

Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro

On 27th June old girl, Becky Nutter, will be setting off to Tanzania to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in the effort to raise money for Child Reach International. The charity Child Reach focusses on helping children at grassroots level to help build their own future.

Whilst in Tanzania, Becky will first spend three days helping out at various Child Reach projects including schools and healthcare facilities. After directly seeing where the raised money has gone, she will be setting off to climb all 5895m of Kilimanjaro, Africa's tallest free standing mountain. She will be taking the Machame route, which is a notoriously difficult route as it is the steepest and most direct, though it also provides some of the most breathtaking views!

However, in order to get there Becky has to raise £2300 and she hopes that her generous friends at Westholme might help her to achieve this once in a lifetime goal! To sponsor Becky, just follow the link below to Virgin Money Giving, which is a non profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charities behalf where the donor is eligible.
