Extra-curricular Drama at Westholme
Westholme has a very strong drama tradition. Its School Productions are reknowned. There are two major productions each year, held in the Westholme theatre. The Christmas production runs for three evenings and usually includes pupils from Year 11 and the Sixth form and the summer production runs for four evenings and includes pupils from Years 7 - 13. They are both major events in the school calendar and involve massive effort and dedication from both staff and pupils. Please click here for a list of previous Westholme productions.

Performing Arts Club
The drama department works with Mrs. Lewis in the music department to run a very popular club for the junior classes (Years 7-9). The club meets at lunchtime each Tuesday and pupils rehearse for a presentation evening held later in the year in the Westholme Theatre. The club aims to promote self confidence, teamwork and the opportunity for each pupil to perform on stage in front of a live audience.
Theatre Visits
The department organises regular theatre visits, to major theatres in the North, for all Drama and Theatre Studies pupils. We take trips to the Royal Exchange and the Lowry in Manchester , the West Yorkshire Playhouse in Leeds, the Duke's in Lancaster and the Bolton Octagon. Visiting theatre companies also provide workshops and presentations for GCSE and Sixth form groups.
LAMDA Acting lessons are available for pupils and are taught by the two members of the drama department as an extra- curricular activity. Currently there are approximately 24 pupils from Years 7-12 taking their LAMDA examinations.
