Physics

At Westholme we aim to make Physics lessons relevant, practical, stimulating and enjoyable. We are fortunate to have modern well-equipped laboratories, which are all fitted with interactive whiteboards . We believe that Physics is a vital part of every students education. It is a subject that has relevance to the lives of all of us.

The issues surrounding energy resources, the dangers of electromagnetic radiations such as ultra violet radiation from the sun, the uses of ionising radiation, electrical safety and paying for domestic electricity, safe stopping distances for cars and theories about the creation of our Universe are just a few of the many and varied aspects of our curriculum. We challenge the more able students, using activities such as the Institute of Physics SciCast movie making competition, the Physics Challenge, the Physics Olympiad and the World Wide Physics Olympics, whilst encouraging and supporting those students who need more help.
