National Schools' Badminton Competition
The Westholme U16 badminton team represented Blackburn with Darwen Schools in the county finals of the Center Parcs National Schools Badminton Competition held at Thornton Cleveleys Sports Centre. The girls played very well and there were some very close and nerve-racking games, most of which they won! Success in this round gained Westholme qualification into the semi-final against Balshaw’s School, and again there were some very closely contested games. Westholme won this match 4 – 1. In the final Westholme was up against a very strong team from St Michael’s and despite trying their very best, lost by 4 matches to 1.
Congratulations to the badminton team on their runners-up position in this county competition. Silver medals were presented to Victoria Spencer, Stephanie Leaver, Deena Mahmood, Charlotte Millington and Emma Dean.
