National Schools' Hockey Tournament
On Monday 20th February Westholme entered the U13 National Schools’ Hockey Tournament for the very first time. Two teams were entered: an Under 13 team in the Main Tournament and a Year 7 team in the B Tournament (even though they were a year young).
In the main competition, against the best schools in Lancashire, the U13s played against Baines, Greenbank, Arnold, Kirkham Grammar and Heysham. All the games were extremely close and Westholme narrowly missed out from progressing to the next stage.
In the B Tournament, the Year 7 team played against Arnold, Kirkham Grammar, Lytham and King Edward’s & Queen Mary’s. Their fantastic results meant that Westholme won the tournament which is a fantastic achievement – especially considering it was their first ever attempt!
Medals were awarded to Charlotte Berry (captain), Maddie Hopkinson, Emma Taylor, Fiona Anderson, Lucy Fielden, Baylie Thompson, Holly Birchall and Olivia Pickford.
