Criminology Course

The six-week Criminology course was open to students from Year 11 and Sixth Form and covered such topics as the reasons why people commit crime, analysis of ‘famous’ cases and a mock trial.  The trial was set up with the help of EPR teacher Mr Beard, who is also a local magistrate.  He organised a courtroom scene based around a lady convicted of shoplifting.

The course aimed to raise awareness of the criminal justice system and the reasons certain people commit crime.  The course raised lots of group discussion and interaction, with a really good atmosphere in the group.  Fifty students were awarded Criminology Course certificates.
