She finds the pupils absolutely delightful and she is really looking forward to putting her own stamp on PE. She loves all sporting experiences in particular hockey, netball, gymnastics, athletics and fitness.

“My aim is to instil all pupils with a love of physical activity so that when they leave for pastures new, they continue to enthuse about the subject and develop all their talents and abilities.”

A particular highlight of Year 6 is the annual adventure weekend at Lockerbie Manor and watching how the pupils respond to new experiences is always very interesting. Mrs Shipley is the Senior Teacher for the Juniors and is also the History Co-ordinator. She runs the Scrabble Club once a week after school and enjoys getting to know some of the younger children and helping them to think of high scoring words. She attends the committee meetings of the Westholme Association and appreciates first-hand the valuable role the association plays in supporting the school. Mrs Shipley enjoys transforming the bare walls of her Year 6 classroom into a colourful and stimulating environment for her pupils.
