Age UK Tea Party

Junior School opened their doors today to a group of ladies and gentleman from Age UK Blackburn with Darwen, who were served afternoon tea by our Year 6 pupils.

There was a welcoming atmosphere as they enjoyed sandwiches, a selection of cakes and tea and coffee. The Year 6 children were fantastic hosts and made everyone welcome by taking the time to talk to the Age UK group and sing traditional songs.

The highlight of the afternoon was a game of bingo hosted by Mrs Tinniswood. This was familiar to the our visitors but not so familiar to some of our Year 6 pupils! Matthew Middleton was one of the first to win a prize and kindly donated it to Jimmy, who was so grateful and overwhelmed.

The afternoon came to an end with lots of smiles and laughter and the children gave the ladies and gentleman some delicious Westholme shortbread to take home.

We value our relationship with Age UK and look forward to future events.
