On Wednesday, Westholme took park in the annual Rossall Rugby 7's tournament, now in its 41st year. As a developing team Westholme went into the emerging schools group where we played four matches and a final match against an equally placed team from the corresponding group.
After a very slow start in which a try was conceded on the first play the boys began to improve, with Joseph Bank setting the standard with his tough tackling and powerful, dynamic runs which saw him score numerous tries throughout the day.
After four games in the group stage, all of which were reasonably close, Westholme finished with one win and three defeats meaning that they would play St Mary's, Croston in their final match.
In another tough game with much better awareness and all-round play the boys were unlucky to come away empty handed from the game losing 15-5; Jonathan Brindle was awarded the man of the match medal from the opposing team for a creative and well played game.
Despite only winning one game on the day, positives can be taken from the experience and from each performance with the team performing better and better in each tie.
