The History Man

‘The History Man’ visited Year 6 pupils today to talk to them about World War II, bringing with him an intriguing selection of authentic memorabilia from the period, including gas masks, helmets and a siren.

Rather than simply talking to the children about the events of the war,’ The History Man’ brings them to life by engaging the children in interactive roll play, asking them to wear the hats and helmets of the various armies and getting them to re-enact the movement of troops as one country invaded another; all cleverly mapped out in a world of gym mats on the carpet.

There were plenty of questions from the excited students, some of which were related to their own family and stories passed down through the generations.

Thank you to Mr Worrell for such an enriching visit and for bringing history to life in the classroom.
