Mrs Horner was delighted to praise students and staff alike for their hard work: “This year, against a backdrop of significant national examination reform, Westholme Upper Sixth Formers have produced another consistently excellent set of A Level results. I am especially proud of our increased A*- B grades to 76.5%. These are the top grades which secure the sought after places at university and demonstrate to employers that our young people have the ability to learn, to work independently and to excel. Westholme’s A Level achievements are testament to the dedication of our teachers, the diligence of the students and of course their supportive families. It is a privilege to see that the potential I knew was there has been justly fulfilled and I wish every one of them the best of luck on their future paths.

Today we are celebrating another set of incredible GCSE results. Year 11 have coped tremendously with the new examination system that has been introduced and we are pleased to share in their success.
We are absolutely delighted that the diligence and focus of both students and teachers has paid dividends with excellent results. Superb performances from 34% of our students achieving grades A*/ A or 9-7 are especially pleasing. With a small fraction of the country expected to secure the new top grade 9, we achieved 9% which is outstanding. Nicola Judah and Ritu Battacharyya deserve special commendation having secured 11 A*/9s in all subjects – this is truly fantastic.
Lewis Taylor received a well-deserved A* in Performing Arts and is moving through to the Sixth Form with a Drama Scholarship in recognition of his excellence in this area.
Amber Gosling, Charlotte Burke, Shuresh Ghanbari, Alice Beveridge and Ella Boys are just some of the students celebrating after achieving 11 GCSEs, all at grade 7/A or above.
Principal, Mrs Horner commented, “In a time of change I have been impressed by the conscientious work ethic of Westholme Year 11s who have embraced every challenge; they are ready for the next stage of their career in our Sixth Form, Further Education or apprenticeship. I commend their efforts, thank the dedicated teachers who have inspired them and the parents who have supported them throughout.”
