Year 5 enjoy an African Drumming Session
The girls and boys in Year 5 enjoyed learning to drum in African style with Mr Ian Bamford from Bolton Music Centre. They discovered that the drums were carved from wood and covered in goat skin. Next, they were able to learn a number of rhythmic patterns which they then layered together to make an impressive (and very noisy!) sound.
Everyone really enjoyed the session and said they would love to do it again!

At Westholme I was taught that no dream was too big. We were encouraged to aim for the stars, which I did and succeeded! Knowing I had their constant support even to this day, anything was possible.
At Westholme, aspirations were encouraged strongly, along with a clear ethos that working hard was the way to achieve them. It’s an attitude that has been incredibly positive for me.
More than anything, Westholme taught me to be fearless in my aspirations. It was an environment which encouraged me to stay true to myself, and to treasure and cultivate my creativity.
I think that it is extremely important that people aim for the best and keep their aspirations for the future high. Aspirations and dreams are hugely motivating.
