AJIS Swimming

A fine performance!

The annual AJIS Swimming Gala took place at Darwen Leisure Centre yesterday with 19 children from Years 5 and 6 competing against a host of independent school from across the region. With a total of 72 races to be held, including 28 finals and with more than 300 children in attendance, there was a lot of action to be jam packed into the afternoon.

All swimming disciplines were on display over distances of 25m, 50m and 200m where the individual medley was concerned. Initially heats were held in order to determine finalists with every race proving to be extremely competitive. Westholme students stood up to the challenge and produced some fantastic individual and team displays in order to reach 17 of the 28 finals.
