Alex Jones has been trampolining since the age of 6 years old. It is a passion of his that has seen him develop into an excellent trampolinist.
However, whilst training and performing with Salford City Gymnastics Club, Alex began to feel pain in his knees and as a result began to enjoy the sport less. After being advised to take time out from competition Alex still wanted to be involved in the sport and started to help out at Burnley Gymnastics Club. He assisted in the training of younger athletes which includes demonstrating moves, providing feedback and encouragement, assisting with competitions and other general duties.
It is a role that Alex still thoroughly enjoys. From an initial set back, Alex has demonstrated resilience, determination and a ‘can do’ attitude, which optimises the Growth Mindset that the school believes is crucial in developing successful individuals. It also shows the variety of ways that you can be involved in sport other than performing.
We wish Alex all the best with his continuing role at Burnley Gymnastics Club!
