September’s Seminar: Academia
We were delighted to welcome back former pupils Sarah Turner and Fiona Edmonds to another successful seminar in our lunchtime careers sessions, which are open to Years 9 and up. The series is designed to give the girls a chance to listen and talk to women who once walked a mile in their shoes! It makes the information very real and accessible.
Both Sarah and Fiona are enjoying flourishing careers in the world of academia- Sarah as an Admissions and History of Art tutor at the University of York, and Fiona Lecturer in Celtic History at the Department of Anglo-Saxon, Norse, and Celtic, and Fellow of Clare College, Cambridge. They brought their subjects and career insights to life for the girls, and the audience agreed they were thought-provoking and interesting. Fiona and Sarah both also enjoyed being back at Westholme where they revisited many happy memories and caught up with several members of the staff team who had taught them and shaped their lives. It was good to see such lovely well-rounded and confident women taking the Westholme message out and bringing their experiences back in.
