Westholme welcome German Exchange partners
Last week was a very busy week for the Languages Department as we welcomed our German exchange partners from the Hildegardis Schule in Hagen. The party arrived on Monday lunchtime after a very early start and spent the afternoon in lessons. The German pupils were amazed by the English uniforms and, in particular, by how smart the Sixth Form students were.
Tuesday saw the German pupils and staff visit Chester with Miss Bruce, this included a Roman Soldier tour around the city and the chance for one member of the group to take part in a short role play.
On Wednesday, Mrs Whittle accompanied the group to Blackpool and Lytham St Anne’s where at least some of the students no doubt tried fish and chips for the first time in this typical English seaside resort. In comparison, Thursday involved the Museum of Science and Industry and retail therapy in Manchester with Mr Dumbill.
Before we knew it, it was Friday and the last day. After a morning of lessons, the German students headed home ready to start their Easter holidays, tired and eagerly anticipating the return leg in June.
Thank you to all the staff, students and parents who made all the visitors feel so welcome.
