BAE Work Experience

Great opportunity for Sixth Form students at Westholme

Two Sixth Form students were lucky enough to be given the opportunity for a week of work experience at BAE Systems, Warton. The students thoroughly enjoyed the time they spent there, as they were able to experience working in the offices and were also taken on tours to see firsthand how the Typhoon is made step by step in the hangers. Please see below their comments.

Alicia Stebbings
‘I was placed in the Combat Air Finance department where I dealt with large numbers and built on my excel spreadsheet skills. I was able to attend meetings and move around the department to gain a full understanding. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at BAE Systems as I met new contacts which have helped me in terms of my application for the Business Management Apprenticeship. I would definitely recommend the work experience programme at BAE as not only does it look good for future roles but also in terms of applying for apprenticeships within the company.’

Claudia Keogh
‘Throughout my week at BAE Systems I learnt a lot about the different aspects of the company. I got to attend meetings about up and coming software packages that will be implemented within the business over the next six months. It was a hands on week and I really enjoyed myself and it has re-enforced the idea that I would like to apply for a Business Apprenticeship for September 2016.’

There is another fantastic opportunity for a week of work experience at the BAE Systems Samlesbury site at the end of January.
