This week we have been marking Biology Week with events and activities at lunchtimes aimed at inspiring inquisitive minds and future scientists, medics and biologists.
In the Biology labs there were dissections at lunchtimes and the students were given the opportunity to look at the anatomy of a rat, find out why lungs float and see the working of the heart.
This afternoon, students tested for simple carbohydrates in different foods, such as bread, milk, cheese and oil using the Benedict’s test.
At the opposite extreme, the competition was fierce in the biology ‘bake off’ which resulted in some impressive edible entries from the students. The winning entries will be announced soon!
