Helping local people
During the course of this half term, students in Year 8 have been collecting tins for Blackburn Food Bank. They found out about the work of the Food Bank when Barbara Foster visited school to speak to them during a Year 8 assembly.
Inspired by this, each form was given an item to collect and, as a result, they have been able to provide much needed vegetables, fruit, rice pudding, custard and tomatoes. Later in the school year, students will make a second collection so we look forward to their continuing support and enthusiasm for this project and we hope that their contributions will help to ease the struggles over the festive period for those who are really in need.
Thank you to everyone who brought in contributions; they will be given to such a worthwhile cause, working to combat poverty and hunger across Blackburn this Christmas.
