Celebrations took place across all school sites in recognition of World Book Day.

Starting with our youngest children at the Infant School, all children dressed up as characters from the children’s book ‘Charlie Cook’s Favourite Book’. The story tells of Charlie Cook who is reading a book about a pirate captain, who is reading a book about Goldilocks, who is reading about a knight, who is reading about a frog . . . From kings and queens to aliens and ghosts, there were plenty of characters for the children to dress up as. The enjoyed parading around during a special assembly where Mr Lewis also read them the story. What fun!

Down at the Junior School, many wonderfully dressed up children were too celebrating World Book Day, this time by dressing as their favourite book character. Harry Potter, Willy Wonka, Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz and Dennis the Menace amongst others. The Year 6 pupils even enjoyed showing off their costumes whilst they were at Senior School for their transition day.

Finally, Senior School pupils took up the challenge set by the English Department and questioned members of staff about the last book they had read in a bid to complete the booklets they had been given. After this morning’s assembly, each student also received a book token.
