Catalyst Museum Trip

On Friday, Year 7 students went to the Catalyst Science Museum in Widnes where they took part in a Showering with Surfactants workshop.

Here, they were able to explore the Chemistry behind many everyday bathing products. The highlight of this came when they were able to put the theory into practice and make their own sample of shower gel to take home! The hardest part of the whole day was deciding which flavouring to add!  The laboratory smelled amazing, with a mix of apple, biscuit and even bubblegum gels being created.

After this it was on to explore the exhibits and experience the Flash Bang Show – where they were shown lots of exciting demonstrations including liquid nitrogen.

A great day was had by all.
