Last week we saw the spectacular Les Misérables showcase taking place on the Croston Theatre stage, with our talented students performing to the very best of their abilities! Things started on Tuesday with a production put on specially for visiting schools in the morning.

National treasure and dog lover Clare Balding visits Westholme
On Wednesday evening, TV host and dog lover Clare Balding made a special appearance at Westholme School where she introduced her new book Isle of Dogs which explores the many roles our ‘best friends’ fulfil in our lives.
In Memoriam of Mr Ian Woolley MBE
It is with great sadness that we announce that our former Chair of Governors, Mr Ian Woolley MBE, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday 24th October aged 91 years.

Morocco Earthquake Appeal fundraising day
On Wednesday 4 October, the Inspired Sixth Form Charity Team raised money for the Morocco Earthquake Appeal by holding a green and red, Moroccan themed day for the whole school.
Mr Warren Gell of Vision Linens INSPIRES students
On Monday, Vision Linens’ Group Retail Director Warren Gell visited Westholme, to talk with our INSPIRED Sixth Form students studying Business and Economics. Mr Gell focused on brand and sales strategy, and how to overcome business issues whilst growing a business. The presentation was held in the LRC and included other Senior students as well.
European Day of Languages
This week we celebrated European Day of Languages! At Seniors, Mrs Blizzard led the whole school assembly in the morning to explain the reasons behind the day of celebration. The main aim is to raise awareness amongst the general public of the importance of language learning and protecting the linguistic heritage.
Khaalid signs for PNE
Congratulations to Khaalid in Year 9 on some fantastic news! Khaalid has recently put pen to paper and signed a one-year contract with EFL Championship football club Preston North End.
Paws for thought with Niall Harbison
Over 400 people from as far and wide as Switzerland, Paris, Dover and Edinburgh made their way to Westholme School on Monday evening to meet dog rescuer Niall Harbison, in a special event arranged by Book, Bean and Ice Cream.

Performing Arts students are a hit on the West End
Four talented Westholme students took to the stage at His Majesty’s Theatre, on London’s West End on Sunday 25 June. They performed in a piece “Because You Ca Ca Can” based on the musical Moulin Rouge as part of a Musical Theatre Showcase.
Year 12 Biology field trip to Blencathra
The A level Biology field trip is always a highlight of the year, for teachers and students alike. Year 12 have recently spent 2 days in the picturesque Lake District, near Keswick, at the Blencathra Field Studies Centre.
