Rising Stars

This week students have been busy rehearsing their performances for the ‘Rising Stars’ production which took place in the Croston Theatre on Thursday evening. There was a wide variety of stunning acts on show, from solo recitals to group dances and performances.

CBE for Old Westholmian Sophie!

We were delighted to hear the news that Professor Sophie Scott, an Old Westholmian and current neuroscientist at University College London (UCL),  received a CBE from Prince Charles this week. 

Prep School Carol Service

This afternoon, the students from our Prep School gathered together with parents, siblings and friends at Blackburn Cathedral for the annual Carol Service, led by The Very Reverend Peter Howell-Jones, Dean of Blackburn.

Year 11 Art trip to London

Year 11 artists and photographers were afforded the opportunity to join us both for an exciting and energetic trip to London on 11th November.  The journey began by train from Preston to London Euston and from there we set off on our first underground journey to Camden. 

Westholme STEM Challenge

Today we were delighted to host our annual Year 5 STEM Challenge Day with visiting schools from across Lancashire. After having to postpone, delay and reschedule, it was an absolute joy to have the junior students back in school for a day full of STEM based fun.

Senior School House Cross-Country

Last week we held the House Cross-Country competitions at the Senior School, arguably one of the biggest sporting occasions in the school calendar! Overall we saw some fantastic performances and the spirit and determination from our students made it a great day of competitive racing.

Capturing a Moment in Time – literally!

On Tuesday we undertook the exciting task of sealing a time capsule in the main corridor wall that is currently under construction for our brand new Prep School. Principal Dr Robson and Mrs Barnett, Head of the Prep School, visited the site at Wilmar Lodge along with students who will be coming there permanently from September.

National Poetry Day

The Power of Poetry

Choice: the theme of National Poetry Day 2021. And it came as no surprise that Westholme students took this theme and ran, or should I say sprinted, with it. Our students never fail to disappoint with their unique creativity.

Will’s amazing success!

Will, in Year 10, along with 5 other gifted young riders from Blackburn and District Pony Club have made local history with their trainer, Elaine Barker, by qualifying as one of only 6 teams across the country, for the Prince Phillip Cup, a mounted games competition.
