Catterall Shield

Superb running from our Cross Country runners

On Wednesday, our intrepid running teams from the Junior and Senior Schools took to the Cumbrian hills for the annual Catteral Shield race.

The combined Year 7 and 8 teams saw competition and a very difficult and steep course. Well done to all the pupils who ran; the boys finished in 7th place and congratulations to the Girls’ team who finished in second place. A special mention should go to Charlotte Corrigan who finished 1st in her race and Hollie Cubbon and Will Couch who both finished 5th in their races.

Some excellent running was also on display from our Junior School runners. The best runner home for Westholme was Kate Deegan in the Girls’ race finishing 11th, followed close behind by Eve Downham (only Year 4!), Eva Knowles, Isabelle Haslam and Charlotte Backhouse. Every girl finished in the top 45. Our best runner for the boys was Oliver Oakley who finished in 30th place with Jonathan Brindle right behind him in 31st place. William Ormisher, Adam Davenport and Harry Duckworth all finished in the top 65.
