Year 8 student, Sam McCumiskey, took part in a charity bike ride with his Scout group, cycling from Leeds to Liverpool.
Sam completed the ride over two 10 hour days, cycling just over 63 miles per day, beginning in Leeds, with a break at Accrington, then on to Liverpool.
He was up and out by 7am both days and Sunday was particularly challenging with horrendous wind and rain storms which meant the cyclists were riding into the wind.
Sam rode with a variety of cyclists, from approximately 10 years old through to the Scout leader, ‘Badger’, who celebrated his 60th birthday by the locks in Liverpool at the end of the ride!
Everyone finished in good spirits due to the efficient organisation of the volunteer leaders and parents.
Sam has raised approximately £350 in sponsorship towards funding a Doctor to visit and treat the Children in the ‘Sahara’ Orphanage in Kathmandu.
Well done, Sam. We are very proud of you.
