Choir Tour to Austria
The Wilmar Lodge Choir Tour has just returned to school following its very successful 7 day tour to Austria. Their performance of Haydn’s Creation in Salzburg’s St Andrew’s Church and their matinee of James Bond and Beatles songs plus the Swing Band and soloists in the Mirabell Gardens had very enthusiastic audiences and raised almost 1,000 Euros for a local charity.
Choir members also enjoyed the trick fountains and the Sound of Music Pavilion at Hellbrunn Palace, other (Sound of Music) locations in Salzburg, The Lichtenstein Gorge, Hohenwerfen Castle (famous location for the film ‘Where Eagle’s Dare), Eagle’s Nest (This infamous Nazi Holiday Home now also raises money for charity), A Summer Toboggan Run, Lake Konigsee and the Water Park and Mountains near our Hotel in Wagrain.
82 Pupils returned to school rather tired after their 25 hour coach journey, but happy about the pleasure they had brought to people and the experiences they had enjoyed. We are now looking forward to next year’s tour, probably to Milan and possibly calling at Venice too!
