U15 Cricket Team bowled out the competition
What a wonderful morning at the Lancashire Indoor Cricket. 5 schools competed to go through to the regional round in Blackpool next month and we are delighted that our U15’s won and will progress through.
We beat DACA fairly convincingly, following it up with a good win against a strong QUEGS side. Crucially we took wickets regularly and bowled a number of valuable ‘dot’ balls. We batted sensibly, looking for maximum scoring opportunities without resorting to just ‘throwing the bat’ at it.
Next up we lost to BCHS. Perhaps their size and power affected us mentally but we did not perform well against them and lost with 4 needed off the last ball.
That meant we would have to beat St. Bedes well if we wanted to go through, as they were so far unbeaten.
What happened next is the stuff of legend….. our bowling performance was absolutely brilliant. The umpire remarked at the end that it was the best team bowling he had ever seen. As a result, we bowled them out with balls to spare, leaving us only a modest target to chase. We completed this playing decent cricket shots.
This meant that we had won the tournament round and are going to the regionals next month.
Congratulations to the team of Theo Cains, Will Couch, Jake Chippendale, Thomas Duckworth, Hammad Khalid (Captain), Matthew Ninan, Thomas Perricone and Freddie Pickford.
