Students return from a four week expedition to Ecuador
On 10th July 31 students accompanied by Miss Edgar, Miss Incerti and Miss Salisbury set of for a 4 week expedition to Ecuador. This is the 4th expedition organized by Westholme as students have previously travelled to Tanzania, Kenya and Borneo.
During their time there the students stayed in different communities in the Andes – camping in a village 3800m above sea level, the cloud forest and the Amazon basin.
The students undertook community and environmental projects which included building a water tank to supply water for the village, constructing a community centre, renovating a local school and making a kitchen garden for the local community.
The highlight of the trip was spending 4 days on the Galápagos Islands where the team had the opportunity to snorkel with sea lions, turtles and hammerhead sharks!
All the girls and staff had a wonderful time and it was certainly the trip of a lifetime.
