The sixth form chemists and physicists had an action packed afternoon at Heysham Power Station!
After exploring the technology behind nuclear power and learning more about the multitude of careers on offer in the Energy Sector they had a fascinating tour of the site itself. After a rigorous security check and donning a large number of high viz safety accessories they were lucky enough to visit the control room, walk above the gigantic turbine hall and see the reactor itself!
The scale and complexity of the equipment and the expertise of those working with it made it a truly eye opening experience!
