Year 9 Volcano Models
As part of their Geography studies, Year 9 students have been learning about volcanoes. For their homework, they were asked to research a volcano of their choice and produce a model with an accompanying fact file.
Today, some of the models which had been designed to ‘erupt’ were demonstrated in one of the labs, combining Science with Geography with many of the students gathering to watch the explosions!
Some students used a mixture of bicarbonate of soda and vinegar to create their eruptions whilst another used sparklers to represent the erupting volcano.
We filmed this exciting demonstration and the videos can be viewed below.
Congratulations to all students for their hard work in producing their models. The Geography department now have the tough task of selecting the winners and we look forward to hearing the results in the coming weeks. The models look wonderful and are currently being displayed in the Theatre Foyer.
