Fairtrade Fortnight 2020

As part of the Fairtrade Foundation fortnight 2020 our pupils have been busy taking part in various activities across the school in support of the charity.

Last week our Fairtrade team delivered an assembly about the challenges being met by a cooperative of cocoa farmers in the Gola Rainforest, Sierra Leone – presenting the difficulties they face in finding a balance between making a living and caring for our planet.

It was a well-informed presentation and delivered confidently by the members of the team.

This week we also saw Fairtrade volunteer Mrs Greenlees visit the school again with her stall, selling a wide array of gifts, sweets and chocolate in the LRC.

Always popular with our students, this may have been the busiest one yet!

After break, Mrs Greenlees then went into Geography lessons to talk to the students about the Fairtrade organisation and the lives of the people it helps.

She also discussed their work and how the stalls help to sell goods and raise money and awareness for the Fairtrade Foundation.

Thank you to Mrs Greenlees and all our pupils who were involved for all of their hard work for a fantastic cause!

We look forward to announcing the total raised later on this week.
