Westholme receives Fairtrade Pledge for its commitment to this worthwhile cause.
On Thursday 20th May, Mrs Greenleas came into school to present Westholme with its Fairtrade Pledge. This local pledge recognises Westholme’s continuing commitment to Fairtrade.
Westholme’s Student Council set up the Fairtrade committee and its members have been busy attending meetings, holding assemblies and generally raising awareness for this important campaign. Mrs Ballan, the school’s catering manager has helped the committee a great deal by looking into costings and providing Fairtrade coffee, tea, hot chocolate and sugar in the staff room and for school visitors. Miss Worthington and the EPR students also helped to achieve this pledge by organising and manning the very popular Fairtrade stalls.
Westholme is working towards the full national Fairtrade status and will endeavour to continually support this worthwhile cause in future. We would encourage all our pupils to look for ethical solutions and alternatives wherever possible.
