Beth-Walker Smith excels in Engineering
Beth Walker-Smith, former student who has been nominated for the Loughborough Enterprise Awards by AACME – Aeronautical, Automotive, Chemical & Materials Engineering School.
Beth left Westholme in 2013 and went on to study Materials Engineering with Design at Loughborough University and has so far more than proved her ability and determination, in what is widely accepted to be a male dominated industry.
This was evident, when in 2015-2016, Beth completed her one-year placement in the industrial department at Pirelli Burton. Whilst there she excelled; developing an innovative idea for the production line which she presented to the Board of Directors. Beth’s idea was subsequently implemented. Following on from this she was nominated for the Student of the Year, running against three other candidates, (all male), and won the title.
Most recently, Beth has been nominated for the Loughborough University Enterprise Awards 2017, by the Engineering School in which she is enrolled – AACME – Aeronautical, Automotive, Chemical & Materials Engineering School. The overall winner of this competition will be put forward for the National Finals. We would like to congratulate Beth on all of her fantastic achievements and wish her good luck in the next round of the Enterprise Awards.
