An Olympic treat!
The Year Two children at Billinge House today entertained their parents in their final leavers’ assembly.
They took the audience on a journey through Ancient Greece to learn about the origins of the Olympic Games. They learned about famous athletes of years gone by, right up to those of the modern day. On their journey, they met a number of children struggling to get into the spirit of the games.
Through the assembly they learnt some important messages – about participation, teamwork and dedication. They thought about qualities that are important in sport but also in life, especially as they move onto the next phase of their Westholme journey….Don’t give up, be the best you can be and work hard to achieve success!
At the end of the assembly Mrs Bolton and Mrs Croston presented every child with a commemorative mug, courtesy of the Westholme Association. This marks the end of an important chapter for our Year Two children, but also a very exciting beginning in September. We wish them all the best!
