Year 1 children learn all about plants

Mr Hanson from Hansons Garden Centre, Barrow came into school to talk to Year One about plants and seeds.   He helped them to plant a range of vegetable seeds and told them all about looking after plants and qhat they need to grow.

The children asked lots of questions such as “What is the tallest flower in the world?” and “Why do plants have leaves?” Mr Hanson made their scientific learning fun and has set them a challenge: He will return to school in 4-6 weeks time to see whether their seeds have grown taller than his.   The pressure is on…..Who will be declared the best gardener?
