Celebrating The Queen’s 90th birthday
Celebrations have been regal today at Westholme as children from Nursery through to Sixth Form enjoyed a special party lunch to celebrate The Queen’s 90th birthday.
Nursery and Infant School children began the day with a special assembly; the staff and children had dressed in red, white and blue or as a Prince, King, Queen or Princess. As they walked into the hall, the National Anthem was playing before Mrs Dixon talked about The Queen and her birthday. The children found out that Paddington Bear had something in common with the Queen and that was that he has 2 birthdays as well! Mrs Dixon talked to the children about the celebrations that were going to take part over the next 3 days; a special service in St Paul’s Cathedral, Trooping of the Colour and a huge street party in The Mall on Sunday. The assembly finished with a parade in which children perfected their royal waves as they paraded in their finery around the hall.
By lunchtime, the dining halls at all school sites had been decorated with red, white and blue flags and tablecloths and a special birthday party lunch was served to everyone. Special thanks must go to Mrs Ballan and her catering team for the amazing spread!
We would like to wish Her Majesty a very, happy, Westholme birthday!
