Year 11 & Sixth Form students take part in Sociology & EPR day
On Monday 3rd February the Sociology department and the EPR department combined to host a Hate Crime Day for Year 11 and Year 12 students. The main aim of the day was to think about how easy it is to have prejudiced and discriminative attitudes and to stop these thoughts before they turn into ‘hate crimes’.
The day involved students attending three different workshops. One which was run by the Lancashire Constabulary Hate Crime Team, one which was run by the Lancashire Constabulary County Terrorism Branch and once which was run by Father John of Thomas House.
The students studied different criminal cases, analysed video images and articles and took part in a variety of other interactive activities, all of which were thought provoking and informative.
The day was highly successful and one which was thoroughly enjoyed by both staff and students.
