History Man

The History Man visited Year 6 pupils today to talk to them about World War II, so enabling them to have a better understanding of the events of the past, and taking them into a world beyond the classroom and their text books.

Rather than simply telling the children about the events, The History Man brings them to life by engaging the children in interactive role play, asking them to wear the hats and helmets of the various armies, playing with old toys, trying on old gas masks and pretending to shoot rifles; all cleverly mapped out in a world of gym mats on the carpet.

During the workshops the children excitedly joined in the activities and were intrigued by the facts and information they heard.

Thank you to Mr Worrell for such an interesting visit and for bringing history to life in a way which will hopefully inspire our students to research their own family histories in the coming weeks.
