The Annual House Swimming Gala
The Annual House Swimming Gala was held on Friday 14th February.
Years 9 and 10 started off the day with the Intermediate gala. All the races were very closely contested and the morning finished with the freestyle relay, which was won by Longridge gaining double points.
The results of the intermediate gala were as follows:-
4th Bowland 37 pts
3rd Calder 44 pts
2nd Longridge 55 pts
1st Pendle 62 pts
Next up was the Senior gala; Year 11 and 6th Form with Bowland winning the House Captain relay and Pendle winning the freestyle relay. The water polo competition was, as always, hotly contested but it was Pendle who were reigned champions.
Overall results of the Senior gala:-
4th Calder 48 pts
3rd Longridge 53 pts
2nd Bowland 76 pts
1st Pendle 83 pts
After lunch it was the turn of the Juniors (Yrs 7 and 8). A special mention should go to Ana Bradbury of Longridge who swum 1 length breaststroke in an amazing 14.39 seconds, smashing the record which had been held since 2003! Adam Natha, of Pendle won the novelty event and finishing the day off was the whole school neat dive final which was won by Megan Collins of Pendle.

4th Bowland 82 pts
3rd Pendle 87 pts
2nd Calder 94 pts
1st Longridge 107 pts
The total of the 3 galas were then added together.
The final positions were as follows:-
4th Calder 186 pts
3rd Bowland 195 pts
2nd Longridge 215 pts
1st Pendle 232 pts
Massive congratulations should go to all the house captains. They did an incredible job of organising their teams.
A big well done should also go to everyone who took part – there was a fantastic atmosphere which made for a great gala!
