Jubilee Tree Planting

We were delighted to welcome Amanda Parker, Deputy Lieutenant of Lancashire, to the Prep School to visit in connection with the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Mrs Parker spoke to the school about the anniversary in assembly before taking part in a tree planting ceremony at our new Prep School site, as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC) initiative to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee which will take place on 2 June 2022. The initiative invites people from across the UK, including individuals, schools or entire cities, to “Plant a Tree for the Jubilee”, which will benefit future generations and create a legacy in honour of The Queen’s leadership.

After a short drive over to the Senior School, Mrs Parker officially ‘planted’ a young oak tree in celebration of the occasion and along with the help of children from the Prep School and Headteacher Mrs Barnett. The children themselves then took turns putting some of the fresh soil around the base of the tree.

It was a beautiful morning and the sun was shining to mark the beginnings of Spring. We’re looking forward to seeing it grow into a fully fledged oak tree on the front lawn, to welcome visitors down the drive.
