As part of a whole school road safety initiative we welcomed Mrs Cheryl Sandford, Connect Communities Co-ordinator from Blackburn with Darwen Transport Team into Infant and Junior school this week. She started by reminding the children of the benefits of walking to school and congratulating the children who had received their ‘Park and Stride’ certificate last term.
The children were then shown with the use of a toy car and cloth puppets the outcome of a car having a road traffic accident when the passengers were not wearing seat belts. They were surprised and dismayed to see how forcefully the passengers were thrown through the windscreen of the car! Reinforcing how important it is to wear your seat belt for every trip.
Mrs Sandford measured all the children and following Government guidance told them which car seat they should be using for each trip.
The children had an informative morning and learnt about keeping safe on the road.
