I’m Susie/Mrs Potter. I am one of the LAMDA teachers in school. I teach acting, public speaking, verse & prose and devising from the LAMDA syllabus.
I took acting LAMDA lessons myself when I was at school and then went on to study at Manchester School of theatre where I gained my BAhons. After graduating I went on to act professionally in TV programs such as ‘My Mad Fat Diary’ (Channel Four/Netflix), Shameless (Channel 4), TV adverts (Virgin Media) and performed at Manchester’s Royal Exchange theatre in the lead role (Galka Motalka 2011).
The LAMDA exams helped me gain confidence not only in performing but also day to day life. I hope that in my lessons you will also gain this confidence, whether it’s because you are an avid reader and love poetry (verse & prose) or love politics and want to write about your opinions on world (public speaking) or maybe you have a great imagination with story telling and staging (acting/devising) I can help guide your interests whilst working towards your exam.
Hi, I’m Susan and I am a LAMDA Musical Theatre and singing teacher here at Westholme. You can find out more on my website www.susaneames.co.uk
I have had the privilege of teaching students from Westholme for many years, both in my private practice and in school. As well as LAMDA and singing lessons, I currently run the Junior Choir and vocal coach the school productions. We are extremely lucky to have such a high standard of drama and music here at Westholme. I can assure you that not everywhere gives the performing arts such a significant role as part of a holistic approach to education.
I trained at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and am an accredited teacher for the ‘Vocal Process’ having also completed the ‘Estill Voice Training’ courses.
My lessons are aimed to build each child their personal vocal ‘toolbox’, filled with techniques which they can use to learn and interpret songs in whatever style they choose, demonstrating a dynamic balance between technique, musicianship and emotional impact. So, whether your child wants to take musical theatre exams and perform in the West End, or would just like to have some more confidence, having LAMDA lessons is a great start!
Helping students nurture and understand their voice (including its anatomy) is important to me to help them find their own sound as every voice is unique. It is important to develop the student’s ability to discover, integrate and communicate the character, emotions and back-stories inherent in any song.
I look forward to meeting your child in September and welcoming them to the Westholme family.
