North West Cancer Research – a welcome visit

We were pleased to welcome Charlotte Elwood from North West Cancer Research to talk to members of the INSPIRED Sixth Form in the the Croston Theatre.

North West Cancer Research is an independent charity, dedicated to putting our region’s cancer needs first, funding pioneering research to tackle the cause, improve the care and find the cure for cancer.

Mrs Elwood spoke to students about the importance of taking their own personal health seriously, and not being embarrassed to seek medical helps or checks.

She also used her own personal experience of cancer to the tell students how cancer can affect your life and those of your loved ones, helping to raise awareness of the kind of potential warning signs that students should look out for.

The talk came in conjunction with the previous week being Cervical Cancer Prevention Week 2022, and a nationwide campaign to raise awareness of Cancer prevention especially amongst young adults and methods of prevention that they can take to improve their chances of being cancer free.
